Professional Growth Program
Article 9 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement details the RESPA Professional Growth Program. Members can earn three stipends that are paid annually for as long as the district employs them. Each stipend is now $516.00 and is adjusted each time we receive an adjustment to the salary schedule. So, if you had qualified for all three stipends, you would have received a check for $1548.00 this summer.
There are specific requirements that must be met. The one that causes members the most difficulty is – 9.6.2 “If a unit member wishes to receive Professional Growth credit, s/he must submit a written statement to the Deputy Superintendent, Human Resources, requesting Professional Growth credit for the course prior to enrolling in the course.” Too many members loose credit for classes because they were uninformed about the Professional Growth Program. Members also loose credit because they failed to complete the proper forms prior to starting a class or attending a workshop or conference.
The Association is working with the District to try to arrange some workshops that members can receive Professional Growth Credit for attending.
